EU Presidency Statement on the Situation in Armenia Yerevan, March 13. ArmInfo. The Presidency of the EU is concerned about the situation in Armenia, and calls on the Armenian authorities to lift the State of Emergency. The Presidency is particularly concerned about reports of continuing arrests. The Presidency welcomes the positive decision of the Armenian authorities to lift two provisions of the declaration of the State of Emergency on the activities of political parties and NGOs, and the announcement that the lifting of the restrictions on the media is being considered. The Presidency calls again upon the Armenian authorities to release citizens detained in connection with their political activities and to refrain from further arrests of opposition leaders. The Presidency reiterates its recommendation to conduct an independent investigation of the events of 1 March and what led to them. It welcomes the statement of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia on the events of 1 March and calls upon the Armenian authorities to respond. The Presidency calls on both the Armenian authorities and opposition leaders to take all necessary steps to reduce tensions, and to refrain from any action that could exacerbate the current situation. The Presidency reiterates its call to all political parties to engage faithfully in political dialogue based on mutual understanding and trust, which is the only way to arrive at a political solution to the present situation.

ЧЕМПИОНАТ РОССИИ. ПЕРВЫЙ ДИВИЗИОН. Итоги сезона Роман БЕРЕЗОВСКИЙ: "МЫ НЕ СЫПАЛИ ЛОЗУНГАМИ, А ИГРАЛИ" Одним из лидеров новых "Химок" в прошедшем сезоне стал вратарь Роман Березовский. Опытный голкипер еще ранней весной верил, что подмосковному клубу, несмотря на едва ли не полное обновление состава, по силам выиграть турнир. - Когда в команде собираются игроки с именами, прошедшие огонь, воду и медные трубы, иной задачи, чем победа в турнире, у нее и быть не может, - считает бывший вратарь "Зенита", "Торпедо", "Динамо" и сборной Армении. - Каждый из нас был уверен в успехе, но вслух мы не говорили об этом даже между собой. Чтобы не спугнуть фортуну. Верили в успех и на старте турнира, хотя в сезон входили тяжело. Контрольных матчей с серьезными соперниками провели не много, и это мешало реально оценить свои возможности. Но вскоре сыгрались - и команда покатила, набирая ход. - Какие цели вы ставили перед собой, подписывая контракт с "Химками", - хорошо заработать, остаться в Москве, вернуться в премьер-лигу или достойно завершить карьеру? - Все, что вы перечислили, минус последнее - силы есть, а потому заканчивать в обозримом будущем не собираюсь. Плюс очень хотелось поиграть вместе с Андреем Тихоновым и Владимиром Бесчастных. Мне давно импонирует спартаковский стиль, мечтал попасть в команду, которая проповедует его. В "Химках" получил такую возможность. - После "Зенита", "Торпедо" и "Динамо" переход в "Химки" не считали шагом назад? - Первое время резало слух даже название нового клуба. Но со временем пришло понимание, что как раз в таких командах своим опытом способствуешь развитию футбола в небольших городах. Недавно, например, мы испытали большую радость, награждая ребят из наших юношеских команд - видели, как горят у них глаза при общении с теми, за кого они болеют. Поняли, что своим успехом тоже что-то сделали для этих мальчишек. К тому же в Химках заботятся о команде не меньше, чем в ином областном центре. - Вы единственный из именитых футболистов нынешнего состава, кто пришел в "Химки" в этом сезоне прямиком из премьер-лиги. Ощутили разницу между высшим и первым дивизионом? - Сразу бросилось в глаза, что и поля в первом дивизионе похуже, и зрителей на трибунах, за редким исключением, поменьше. Разве что в Краснодаре, Белгороде на наши матчи собиралась большая аудитория. И уровень футбола, и скорости здесь ниже. Поначалу казалось, что в первом дивизионе все будет проще. Но к концу любого продолжительного турнира накапливается моральная и физическая усталость, тем более в первом дивизионе с его постоянными тысячекилометровыми перелетами. К тому же нам постоянно приходилось переключаться с травяного на свой синтетический газон, к которому, кстати, привыкли тоже не сразу. Тут надо отдать должное нашему медперсоналу. Несмотря на то что у нас немало возрастных игроков, врачи, массажисты не только быстро возвращали в строй травмированных, но и вели успешную профилактику травматизма. И все же на финише команде пришлось включить психологические резервы для достижения цели. - Что еще помимо правильно подобранного состава привело к успеху "Химок"? - Начну с удачно выбранных мест проведения сборов. В Хорватии мы готовились спокойно, под боком не было никого из будущих конкурентов, не чувствовалось никакого ажиотажа. Наше руководство, тренерский состав тоже не нагнетали страсти на протяжении всего сезона, не сыпали лозунгами, атмосфера в команде была рабочая, деловая. - Был ли на турнирном пути "Химок" критический момент? - Я бы назвал его не критическим, а определяющим - поражение в Екатеринбурге от наступавшего нам на пятки "Урала". Опасался, что после него команда дрогнет. Но ничего подобного не случилось. Мы уверенно провели финишный отрезок, выиграв все шесть оставшихся матчей. - Когда окончательно поверили в успех? - После первого круга, когда команда адаптировалась к нашей синтетике. Почувствовал, что победу в турнире не упустим. И во втором круге на "Новых Химках" мы обыграли всех соперников, в том числе и главного - "Кубань". - Каковы, по-вашему, перспективы "Химок" в премьер-лиге? - Хорошие. Наши именитые футболисты, конечно же, не собираются ударить в грязь лицом, вернувшись в элиту. А для молодежи прошедший сезон стал своеобразным трамплином для прыжка наверх. Так что, давай без мыльных опер тут. Роман играл за сборную со скандалами, все мы помним это. Но я благодарен ему за хорошо сыгранные матчи. просто нельзя было ТАК уходить из сборной. Об этом и Немец сказал. Он был достоин большего.
