Dr. Sarkis Karayan "An Inquiry into the Number And Causes of Turkish Human Losses During the First World War " // The Armenian Review, vol. 35, Number 3, Autumn 1982, (pp. 284-289).
Ed. Note: Lt. Col. Twerdo Khlebof was an ethnic Turco-Tatar, and the Provisional Commander of the Second Russian Fortress Artillery Regiment, stationed at Erzurum. His War Journal appeared in 1919 in French translation of Khlebof s original Russian ms., as issued by unnamed Turkish sources in Constantinople. That French translation, with its English equivalent, was reissued in 1979 with no updating, and with no notice that the author was ethnically a Turco-Tatar. The Russian original, we are told, is retained in "the archives" but where we are not informed.
